approved more than $308,000 in endowed scholarship funds to be awarded to Skagit Valley
College students during the 2010-2011 school year. This endowed scholarship allocation is the
largest scholarship distribution the SVC Foundation has ever provided in its 32-year history.
Investment earnings from SVC Foundation endowed scholarship funds increased by 28 percent
in 2009, making possible the generous scholarship awards.
"We are thrilled to have the ability to assist students in a greater capacity this year,"
Megan Bray Wise, Skagit Valley College Foundation President, reported. "Market gains in 2009
allow us to help more students realize their dreams of a college education."
The SVC Foundation receives endowed funds from a variety of donations that include bequests,
memorial gifts, estate gifts, gifts of life insurance and stock, and revenues from fundraising events.
The SVC Foundation currently manages more than 80 endowed funds to support student
scholarships and educational programming at Skagit Valley College.
Student scholarship information is available on the "Financial Aid" web page at www.skagit.edu.
