We are happy to announce an increase in the pay schedule for the Skagit Valley Giant Pumpkin Festival that takes place on Saturday, September 22, 2018. With a larger purse size, this year’s winner will receive $1500.00 for the largest Giant Pumpkin of the weigh-off!
The Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth, a world-wide organization and designated to record world records, stated the following about Christianson’s Nursery 2017 Weigh-off: “There were 107 sites for weigh-offs around the world in 2017. Second place most improved site with a 67% from 2016 was our own Christianson’s Nursery weigh-off in Mount Vernon, Washington.”
What’s new for 2018? A Beer Garden partnered with Rockfish Grill & Anacortes Brewery which benefits and is sponsored by the La Conner Regional Library Foundation.
What else is new for 2018? Christianson’s staff member, Fred Bell, will be carving a design on a Giant pumpkin throughout the day, starting at 9 am, using only hand tools.
All of the annual fun and games such as Lang’s pony rides ($5 cash per ride) and luminously creative face painting ($5 cash per design) will be on site for fun to be had by all.
