Mount Vernon City Council Member Resigns

At their most recent City Council meeting, the Mayor and City Council accepted the resignation of Councilmember Joe Lindquist.

Councilmember Lindquist has been elected to the Public Utility District #1 Board of Commissioners, and will begin serving the public in that role beginning January 1, 2019.

Councilmember Lindquist was first appointed to City Council in January 2005.  He then was re-elected in 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2015 serving for 14 years.  During his tenure, Joe was active in all Council committees and represented the City on the Northwest Clean Air Agency Board for 10 years.

City Council vacancies are filled by an appointment of the City Council.  Those interested in applying must be a registered voter living in the City of Mount Vernon, have resided within City limits for at least 1 year, and be a resident of Ward 1.  The appointee will fill the term left vacant which expires on December 31, 2019.
