Community Action would like to thank the Skagit Mount Vernon Rotary Foundation for awarding $50,000 to our comprehensive capital campaign to create a major new human Services Center for Skagit County.

Specifically, this gift will leverage and be combined with other local Rotary donations to develop a “kid’s safe zone” in Community Actions’ new services center, where parents can safely leave their children while being assessed and receive services. This child’s space will allow parents facing crises to share their stories and sensitive information without re-traumatizing their children, while providing parents with the calm break and support they need to set and work towards their life goals.

Community Action is dedicated to developing a more ideal facility to best serve our community and has located an existing building that meets the need. The current facility more than doubles our service and partnership space, is structurally sound, requires only modest renovations, and is a cost effective solution. Our ambitious timeline is to purchase by March 2018 and finish renovations for a target move-in date in late 2018.

We are so thankful for the support and generosity of Skagit Rotary Foundation as we help people help themselves and each other.
