New Start Time for Safe-Trick-Or-Treating in Downtown Mount Vernon

Tuesday, October 31

Due to requests from teachers last year, the Mount Vernon Downtown Association (MVDA) Halloween Safe Trick-Or-Treating will start ½ hour later this year, to better accommodate school district schedules. The MVDA would like to urge participating businesses not to start prior to 3:30, in order to avoid confusion and shortages towards the end of the event. Trick-Or-Treating will last from 3:30-5:30 pm, followed by the Costume Contest at the Lincoln Theatre.

With prizes being awarded in 6 categories, the MVDA is asking whether your business might like to sponsor or provide a prize or prizes for the Costume Contest. All donations will be acknowledged during the event at the Lincoln Theatre. Donations of unopened bags of candy are also being sought, to assist downtown businesses in treating an estimated 2,000 visitors. Candy donations may be dropped off at the Mont Vernon Chamber of Commerce, 301 West Kincaid, by Friday, October27.

Thanks for your consideration,

Ellen Gamson and Cathy Stevens
