Skagit Valley College staff members receive PSE Staff Excellence Awards
Two Skagit Valley College (SVC) staff members, Margo Grothe (Mount Vernon), and
Angela Atwell (Friday Harbor) have received the Puget Sound Energy Staff Excellence Award. The presentation was made at SVC’s Spring Celebration, an annual event that recognizes college faculty and staff from around the district.
The Puget Sound Energy Staff Excellence Award, which includes a $500 stipend, is organized through the SVC Foundation and recognizes Exempt and Classified staff members who demonstrate staff excellence, a positive attitude, and have had a valuable impact on the college and its students.
“We appreciate Puget Sound Energy and their support of employee excellence among our staff members,” said Carl Young, SVC Foundation Director. “Margo Grothe and Angela Atwell are committed to serving the adult learners in our district and we are pleased to honor them.”
Margo Grothe, an Exempt Professional Staff member at the Mount Vernon Campus, serves as Program Coordinator for SVC’s Life Transitions program. Margo was recognized for her commitment to serving adult learners who are seeking help with their career pathway, returning to college, finding work, and rebuilding self-esteem.
Angela Atwell, a Classified Staff member at SVC’s San Juan Center, was recognized for her outstanding service to the college and the community in her role as Program Administrator for the San Juan Center’s nationally recognized Road Scholar program, a highly popular series for active lifelong learners.
