The staggering increase in customers at Deception Pass Tours has prompted Terica Taylor, formerly of the Economic Development Association of Skagit County (EDASC), to join her husband full time in the operation of his business this month.
On a part time basis, Taylor has been responsible for the company’s overall sales and marketing campaign since it’s inception in 2006. Since then, the company has won numerous awards and seen over 25,000 customers aboard their hourly tours of Deception Pass.
Already, sales at Deception Pass Tours are up 176% over the same period in 2008. “I couldn’t be more relieved to have Terica giving all of her energies to our company,” says owner Brett Ginther, “her expertise in the tourism industry, and knowledge of group sales has already brought us so much success, it’s hard to imagine what we’re going to do now that she’s here full time – we might have to buy another boat!”
Prior to her job at EDASC, Taylor was Vice President of the Yakima Valley Visitors & Convention Bureau. She was at the helm of 5 divisions including sports marketing, convention center sales, tourism sales, visitor information center programs, and their membership department. In her position, she was responsible for local government relations and expanded the Bureau from a $650,000 annual budget to $1.7 million. Also included in her accomplishments is the launch of the WA Wine Country advertising campaign, including the funding and construction of the Wine Country Visitor Information Center.
