Have a Heart Run: Outreach Volunteer 

Community Action is gearing up for its fundraiser, the 9th Annual Have a Heart Run fundraiser and needs volunteers to help advertise the event. Outreach volunteers will:

  • Distribute HAHR literature, flyers, and posters at locations around Skagit County (Opportunities in Burlington and Anacortes)
  • Assemble HAHR outreach packets and folders
  • Document locations visited to maximize effectiveness of outreach efforts

This opportunity is ideal for first time volunteers as well as those looking to further their engagement in the community. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal communication skills, work independently, and engage strangers in unfamiliar settings.

JA in A Day Volunteers

Ongoing | Skagit, Whatcom, and Island County

Join Junior Achievement as a volunteer and become a role model for elementary students. Share your real-world experiences and perspective with students, while having the support and assistance of the classroom teacher. Junior Achievement  provides training and all materials needed prior to the event. Junior Achievement is currently looking for volunteer support at:

  • Island View Elementary in Oak Harbor, Wednesday, March 21st from 9:30am to 1:30pm
  • Mary Purcell Elementary in Mount Vernon, Thursday, March 22nd from 8:30am to 12:30pm

Camp Korey 

Ongoing | Mount Vernon

The mission to honor the courage, strength and determination of children and their families living with living with life-altering medical conditions by providing them with a transformational experience in a fun, safe camp environment with specialized medical support. Volunteer Positions at Camp Korey include:

  • Painting
  • General maintenance
  • Outdoor and landscaping work
  • Cleaning and repairing facilities

Lincoln Theatre

Ongoing | Mount Vernon

The Lincoln Theatre is a non-profit organization that utilizes volunteers to promote performance, culture, and the arts in Skagit County. They frequently require volunteer support in following areas: 

  • Front of House and Ticket Sales
  • Guide & Poster Distribution
  • Weekly Housekeeping and Clean up
  • Administrative Support/Special Event Planning
  • Pipe Organist 
  • Bartender 

Volunteering at the Lincoln Theatre comes with the perk of seeing Lincoln Theatre shows free as well as free popcorn and fountain drinks during the show!

Diaper Bank Volunteers

The Diaper Bank of Skagit County is an organization that is dedicated to helping families gain access to diapers and eliminating diaper need in Skagit County. Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles!

Children of the Valley

Children of the Valley is a safe, secure after school environment for children most in need. They provide meaningful cultural enrichment activities and learning opportunities for children and families. 

They provide a healthy snack, extra-curricular activities, academic support, and a fun, safe place to go after school. Children of the Valley’s current volunteer needs are:

  • Snack Preper
  • Boy Scout Leader
  • Master Gardener
  • Reading and Homework Helper

Skagit Land Trust

Food Delivery Driver 

Ongoing | Sedro-Woolley Food Distribution Center


The Skagit Food Distribution Center is the central hub for the distribution of food to various food banks as well as a variety of low-income community members across Skagit County. The program is currently experiencing a shortage of Food Delivery Drivers to deliver food to home bound seniors in our community! Give the gifts of healthy food and peace of mind to a person or family that may be struggling to put food on the table.

Directly improve the lives of those who can’t leave their home due to financial constraints or disability with the gift of nutrition.


  • Licensed and insured to drive agency van
  • Ability to regularly lift 40 pounds
  • Ability to work weekday mornings

Patient Advocate Program Volunteer

Ongoing | Mount Baker Planned Parenthood

Patient Advocate Program (PAP) Volunteer’s primary role is to approach patients in the waiting room to inquire about a variety of topics that include:

  • Share their Planned Parenthood Stories
  • Information and interest in volunteer opportunities
  • Assist with voter registration process and information
