City of Mount Vernon Annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony to be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 7th

MOUNT VERNON – Mayor Jill Boudreau would like to invite all interested parties to attend the annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7th at the Mount Baker Middle School Cascade Commons/Cafeteria, located at 2310 E. Section Street in Mount Vernon.  This year’s ceremony will include the following:

  • Complimentary breakfast for veterans and their families beginning at 8:30 a.m. provided and donated by The Lunch Box and Bill’s Diner
  • Military hardware display beginning at 9:00 a.m.
  • Performances by the Mount Vernon High School Band and pianist/soloist Elizabeth Wellner
  • Invocation and Benediction by Pastor Ron Deegan
  • Guest speaker Robert E. Lougee, National Area Supervisor 8, Disabled American Veterans
  • Guest speaker Command Sergeant Major Jason Biermann
  • Honor Guard from Naval Station Whidbey Island
  • Color Guard from Burlington American Legion Post 91
  • Recognition of all veterans in attendance

Mayor Boudreau said “I encourage all Veterans, their families and friends, and members of the community in Skagit and surrounding counties to join us on November 7th to honor our veterans.  We owe our veterans so very much and greatly appreciate the sacrifices they have made for all of us.  Boudreau also said “I want to especially thank Veterans Recognition Committee members Richard Sundance and Kirk Duffy for all their help and assistance in organizing this year’s event.”
