Mount Vernon Farmers Market Announces Harvest Market and 2016 Poster Contest

(September 10, 2015 – Mount Vernon, WA) The Mount Vernon Farmers Market (MVFM) will host its 2nd Annual Harvest Market at Skagit Station: 105 E Kincaid St, (downtown Mount Vernon Bus and Train Station) on Saturday November 21st from 10am-2pm. This indoor/outdoor Market will feature approximately 30 local farmers, processors, artisans, and prepared food vendors, for a very special closing day of a great Market season.

The MVFM regular season runs Saturdays from 9am-2pm at the Riverwalk Plaza through October 17th, and Wednesdays from 11am-4pm at the Kincaid Green of Skagit Valley Hospital through September 30th. The Riverwalk Plaza has been a successful new home, and this season has seen record-breaking sales for Market vendors.

The MVFM is launching its 2016 Poster Contest, a juried competition for local artists in all mediums, with a $250 prize for the winning entry. Please visit the website and look for the Poster Contest page. Deadline for submissions is January 25th. We will notify applicants in late February with the announcement of the 2016 winner.

We will consider any 2-dimensional image, in correct format, of an original artwork created with any medium. What we are looking for is poster-ready artwork in jpg (jpeg) form that represents the Mount Vernon Farmers Market. We are not looking for a finished poster with words describing the market’s activities or times. Your artwork will be used in the creation of the poster that the Mount Vernon Farmers Market designs. Artwork and all proprietary rights of the artwork go to the Mount Vernon Farmers Market.

“Keeping farmers on the street since 1987!”, the Mount Vernon Farmers Market offers local farmers, artisans, processors, and prepared food vendors a platform to reach the wider Skagit community, boosts the health of our local economy, strengthens our local food system, and offers a community gathering place during Market season. The MVFM runs from May to October, downtown at the Riverwalk Plaza on Saturdays from 9am-2pm, and on the Kincaid Green at Skagit Valley Hospital on Wednesdays from 11am-4pm. Who will you meet at the Market?”
