Schedule of events announced for the 4th Annual Mayor’s Wellness Challenge in August

Take the challenge! Be active for 31 minutes for 31 days in August. Saturday, August 1
Little Mountain Hike, 10am
Join us for a hike in this beautiful Mount Vernon park. Varying levels of hikes will be offered, led by Mount Vernon Trail Builders volunteers.

Bike to Farms Tour
Start at Edgewater Park, 600 Behrens Millet Road, 10am-2pm
8-mile roundtrip tour includes three Mount Vernon farms — Skagit FlatsFarm, Living Rain Farm, and Ralph’s Greenhouse. Or, continue on to La Conner to Hedlin Family Farms for a 20-mile roundtrip tour.  We kindly request that all riders be 8 years and older. Helmets are required and “fat tire” bikes are recommended as we’ll be traveling on gravel and dirt roads.Wednesday, August 5

Lion’s Club Health Screening Van
Skagit Riverwalk Plaza (near the Farmers Market), 10am-4pm
The 62-foot long, medically equipped Lions Health Screening Unit will be giving free health screenings, including checking for glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and sight and hearing loss.Wednesday, August 12

Walking Mayor’s Coffee Hour
Skagit Riverwalk Plaza (meet at the Farmers Market), 10-11am
Join Mayor Boudreau for a walk along the river. Bring your interests, comments, and concerns and chat with the Mayor over a cup of coffee.

Skagit Valley Food Co-op Garden Center, 202 S. 1st Street, 11am-3pm
Sample the wares & fares of some of the Co-op’s favorite local farmers and producers at their 3rd Annual Summer Garden Party under the shade tents and red umbrellas at the Co-op’s Garden Center.
