Skagit Valley College Drama Department audition announcement for Gilbert and Sullivan classic

The Skagit Valley College Drama Department announces that auditions for the Spring Quarter production, Hot Mikado, will take place in the Phil Tarro Theatre on February 8 and 9 at 3:30 and 6:30 pm. With direction by Damond Morris, musical direction by Diane Johnson, and choreography by Donna Carroll, Hot Mikado is a contemporary retelling of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic.

A one-minute audition piece is encouraged and those who audition should bring sheet music and sing 16 bars of an up tempo song, accompanist provided. The operetta, adapted into jazz, blues and gospel music, will be set in a juke joint during prohibition of the 1920s.

Performances will take place in the Phil Tarro Theatre May 13-21.
