June 4th, 2008June Berries in Beautiful Mount Vernon
If you love the thought of large, ripe strawberries, juicy, red raspberries, and popping-with-flavor blueberries, then you'll love Mount Vernon in June! The summer in Skagit Valley is ripe with opportunity to have some of the greatest, tastiest outdoor adventures around! Fresh berries and produce are in abundance, along with magical vistas of the San Juan Islands and the Cascade Mountain Range. Whether you like to spend your vacations hiking and biking or relaxing and rejuvenating, you'll love it in Mount Vernon.

As the Pacific Northwest weather turns warmer, the Skagit Valley is blessed with fertile ground for berries and produce. We are fortunate to have some great berry growers in our area, in addition to many small farms delivering farm-fresh produce all summer! Enjoy our fabulous Farmer's Market each Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm in Downtown Mount Vernon as you walk along the beautiful Skagit River. If you plan to be in town from June 19 through the 22, don't miss Burlington's Berry Dairy Days festival- you'll love the parade and abundance of fresh berries and ice cream. Or, pick your own berries throughout the summer at one of the many u-pick berry farms in the Valley.

Make sure to plan your adventure from Mount Vernon. We are uniquely situated close to hiking in the Cascade Mountain Range, biking throughout Skagit Valley, kayaking in the Puget Sound, or whale watching in the San Juan Islands. Drop into the Visitor Information Center for a bike map, camp site information, and some great secrets about how to see wildlife like harbor porpoises and bald eagles!

If what you want is a quiet getaway, stay in Mount Vernon and enjoy the excellent spas, boutique shopping, and excellent museums that Skagit County has to offer. You won't be disappointed!

Call the Mount Vernon Visitor Information Center at 360-428-8547 or stop by at 105 E Kincaid Street, Mount Vernon, just off of Exit 226 on I-5. Open 7 days a week!
