Skagit Valley College Department of Music to hold auditions for ‘The Sound of Music’

The Skagit Valley College (SVC) Department of Music will hold auditions for ‘The Sound of Music’ on Wednesday, Feb. 2 and Thursday, Feb. 3. Auditions will take place in SVC’s Phillip Tarro Theatre at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.

The production is seeking a group of actors ranging in age from 5-107 who reflect the diverse actors of our community. All ages — particularly children — are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song that demonstrates their vocal range. Please bring sheet music; accompaniment will be provided. In addition, a 90-second monologue is encouraged. Readings will be available.

  • All participants must be vaccinated for COVID-19, including children.
  • Rehearsals will take place Mon.–Thurs. from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. beginning Monday, Feb. 7. A few Saturday rehearsals will also be held for specific groups in the cast. Not every actor will be called to every rehearsal. Tech week will take place April 17-21 in McIntyre Hall.
