EDASC’s annual Economic Forecast Night returns in person Noted economist Christopher Thornberg is featured speaker

The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County’s annual Economic Forecast Night is taking place Feb. 15 at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge in Anacortes. The event brings together more than 350 business leaders, elected officials and community representatives to look at economic and business trends shaping Skagit County and beyond. This is the first in-person Economic Forecast Night since 2020.

Christopher Thornberg, PhD, founder of Los Angeles-based Beacon Economics LLC is the featured speaker. Under Thornberg’s leadership, Beacon Economics has become one of the most respected research organizations in California, serving public and private sector clients across the United States. An expert in economic and revenue forecasting, regional economics, economic policy, and labor and real estate markets, Thornberg became nationally known for forecasting the subprime mortgage market crash that began in 2007.

Thornberg’s appearance is made possible by ARPA funds awarded by Skagit County and its commissioners.

EDASC CEO John Sternlicht will also present a year in review of the organization’s economic development efforts.
