Skagit Runners to Host 2025 “Get Outside Fun Run” in Support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County
Skagit Runners is proud to announce that it will serve as the official host of the 2025 Get Outside Fun Run scheduled for Saturday, May 24th. This marks the first time the beloved local running club has taken part in organizing this event, which will take place at the Del Trail at the Skagit Playfields in Mount Vernon. Bringing its signature blend of enthusiasm, experience, and community spirit to this high-energy, family-friendly celebration, the Get Outside Fun Run benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County, providing vital out-of-school programs and summer camp scholarships for local youth.
“This event is such a great fit for us,” said Kiera Wright, Board President of Skagit Runners. “We’re honored to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County for the first time to host a run that celebrates everything we value: health, outdoor recreation, and community spirit. We’re especially excited to welcome families, kids, and runners of all levels to join us in getting outside and moving together for a great cause.”
The Get Outside Fun Run is all about community, exploring our PNW backyard, and fun—open to participants of all ages and fitness levels. The event encourages healthy habits, supports youth development, and offers a vibrant start to the summer season. Families can look forward to a festive atmosphere with prizes, post-run activities, and plenty of opportunities to make memories together.
A unique aspect of the event is how it empowers participants to take the lead in their own success by creating personal race fundraising pages and gathering pledges or sponsors to support their efforts. For our youth runners, this is a wonderful way to help them build confidence, communication skills, and a sense of ownership in their journey.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County prioritizes academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship, in all we do as an organization,” said Jen Hutchison of Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County. “We’re also deeply committed to living our club values of fun, respect, integrity, community, and acceptance. This fun run is sure to create lasting memories for all ages who come out to join us. And with the added focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, community, and fun, it’s the perfect way to kick off summer while supporting local youth.”
Registration is now open, and all are welcome to join the movement, from casual walkers to serious runners. It’s the perfect way to support local youth, get active, and celebrate community together.
