Come see giant pumpkins make the scales groan at Christianson’s Nursery this Saturday (Sept. 29, 2012). A $2,000 cash prize for the biggest pumpkin is expected to attract pumpkin growers from Oregon and Canada to compete in Skagit County. (The giant pumpkin winner on Sept. 7 at The Puyallup Fair weighed in at 1,246 pounds; can you imagine what another three weeks of growing time will do for the pumpkins you’ll see at Christianson’s!

The weigh-off is just part of a day of family fun at Christianson’s Nursery.
Events include:

Free pony rides
Free face painting
Free carnival games and photo op cutout boards
Classes on cooking with pumpkin and making hard apple cider ($10 class fee; reservations required)
Harvest food prepared by the popular Edison café, Tweets
Musicians Laurel Bliss and John Clark playing old-time, Cajun and bluegrass music
