Mount Vernon Library Event Cancellations

Mount Vernon Public Library will remain open to the public, however all programs, events and meeting room bookings at the Library are cancelled for the month of March.

The changes to library programming come as Skagit County Public Health officials are recommending social distancing and the cancellation of larger events, as an early precautionary effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“We will continue to take our cues from the County Health Department, in the interest of protecting the residents in our community who may be considered to be at higher risk than the general population,” Mayor Boudreau said.

City Library Director Isaac Huffman announced that Library staff will continue to offer book holds, and the Library has implemented a plan to increase sanitation practices at the facility.

“We want to encourage our patrons to check out the Library’s many online books, media, and classes; as well as e-books and e-audiobooks, streaming TV, movie and music services,” Huffman said. “We know these changes will impact our patrons, and we will work hard to continue communicating our updates through our website and social media outlets.”
