Council Meeting Rescheduled per Governor’s Proclamation

MOUNT VERNON—Tonight’s City Council meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 26th at 7pm. A new proclamation, issued by Governor Inslee’s Office on Tuesday evening, prohibits cities from conducting in-person public meetings, and instead allows for cities to utilize remote technology for participants and observers of any public meetings taking place between today and April 23rd.

Proclamation 20-28 (amending 20-05) aims to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for this reason the City of Mount Vernon City Council will meet Thursday evening via teleconferencing software to allow the Mayor and Councilmembers to conduct business together, from remote locations.

Members of the public who are interested in listening to the Council meeting in real time will be able to use their phones to access the meeting. Additionally, the meeting will be live-broadcast on TV10 and the City website. There will be no physical “meeting place.”

The alternative meeting arrangements will apply to all city council meetings in Mount Vernon until the Governor’s directive expires, after April 23, 2020.

To virtually attend the meeting, the public may:

  1. Call the conference line:   1-888-924-9240; Access Code: 3366211 (please ‘mute’ your phone, if possible, to minimize distractions)
  2. Watch the meeting live on TV10: Comcast/Xfinity Channel 10
