City Launches Online Mount Vernon Restaurant Map

The City of Mount Vernon has created a tool to assist both the struggling restaurant industry, and the hungry customers who want to find great dining to-go options, while contributing to the local economy.

As restaurants scramble to find creative ways to keep their dining areas closed, but their kitchens open; local residents who want to support those restaurants are left with the task of determining who is closed, who is open, and what services are available.

Mayor Boudreau asked the City’s Geographic Information Systems Manager Jacob Milner to collaborate with the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce and the Mount Vernon Downtown Association to create an online application that would map out all of the city’s restaurants, and provide hours and take-out details for each.

Milner went right to work and today the City is launching a user-friendly interactive map that the Mayor hopes residents will take advantage of when trying to decide on their next meal.

“Obviously, eating is essential, and we want our residents to continue supporting our local establishments,” Boudreau said. “But public health is essential too, and this is a good time to remind those who do visit restaurants and other public spaces to practice social distancing, hand washing, and to wear a mask.”

The link to the interactive restaurant map can be found on the City of Mount Vernon website, as well as the Chamber of Commerce site, and the Mount Vernon Downtown Association Facebook page.
