January Service Updates
Community Action is providing services, but all in-person services have been suspended at all locations until further notice. The East County Resource Center remains open with limited walk-up services.

Holiday Closure Announcement: Monday January 18, 2021
All Community Action offices will be closed on Monday January 18 for Martin Luther King Day. Services will resume by phone at 8:30 AM on Tuesday January 19th.
Energy Scheduling Day: January 6

Free Virtual Citizenship Class
Community Action is pleased to bring back its Free Virtual 10 week Citizenship Class in February! The instructor will help students fill out the US citizen application, study for the questions in the interview, and practice reading & writing requirements. Students must have a language proficiency of level 4 or higher.

Point in Time Count 2021 Update
The TLDR (too long, didn't read) summary is that there will NOT be an unsheltered count that normally utilizes volunteers to conduct magnet events and street outreach in 2021.

Eviction Prevention Program Updates: Funding is Exhausted
Eviction Prevention program funding has been exhausted. We are encouraging households to visit our COVID 19 resource page to access additional resources as well as any potential updates on the replenishment of this program.
Eviction Moratorium
The Eviction Moratorium has been extended until March 31, 2021.For information on the Eviction Moratorium we are guiding households to visit the Governors official Website.
Housing Justice Project
The Housing Justice Project provides the following services:
  • Advices tenants facing eviction or other serious rental housing issues;
  • Help answering eviction paperwork;
  • Negotiations with landlords for tenants facing eviction;
  • Representation of tenants at eviction (show cause) hearings; and
  • Provide resource information

Temporary SNAP Payment Increase
SNAP, also known as Food Stamps and Basic Food will have a 15% *temporarily* increase for benefits issued January 2021 through June 2021.
To take advantage of DSHS's increase of SNAP, do nothing if you're already enrolled. For more information about the SNAP program or for eligbility screening, contact Community Action at 360 416-7585.
